Cbanker says regulator may greenlight crypto for external deals
MOSCOW, Feb 10 (PRIME) -- The Russian central bank still opposes settlements in cryptocurrencies in the country but may allow them for foreign settlements, Chairwoman Elvira Nabiullina said on Friday at a news conference.
“We have not revised our position. We are against the use of the cryptocurrency on the national market, in internal settlements. If our economic agents find it convenient to use the cryptocurrency in external settlements, we are ready to allow it,” Nabiullina said.
The issue of “all sorts of stablecoins” and their use in bilateral settlements with different countries requires deep deliberation.
“Such matters are certainly far from clear proposals,” the central banker said.
